Forres hotelier awarded Silver Thistle award
Forres Gazette:
A FORRES hotelier has won a top tourism award from VisitScotland, just a matter of days after being nominated for a customer service award by Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Gavin Ellis (45), who runs the Knockomie Hotel with his wife Penny, was presented with VistScotland’s premier Silver Thistle Award at a gala event held in Edinburgh on Friday evening and attended by 600 people from the tourism industry.
He said that he was stunned and delighted to have been recognised for work done to promote Scotland as a tourism destination, which he hoped would have a positive spin-off in the future for Moray.
“It’s not every day that you are called up to accept a lifetime achievement award,” he said. “I had no idea. I did tell them that I am only 45 and have no plans to retire yet, but receiving this award which has been given to so many worthy past winners made me feel very humble.” More…
From all of us at the Moray Tourism Development group congratulations to Gavin for this well deserved award!
